Gay Radio in Cebu

 A gay radio program was launched on September 13 at DYLA 909. The program dubbed as Lantad is the only radio program in the Philippines that caters to the LGBTI confronting dramatic and controversial issues and embracing events in the queer community. The show is a venue to discuss all issues related to the rights, protection and respect with regards to the sexual minorities.

 The Pilot episode featured Tonette Lopez Project (TLP), a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered Individuals (LGBTI) organization here in Cebu that advocates on gender equality. TLP together with Rosario Estrada Sequitin, Director of the Community Outreach Program and Chairperson of the Social Work Department of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation commended the opening of a first gay radio program here in Cebu.

The second episode featured Barangay Luz as a ‘Gay Friendly Barangay’, giving opportunities and creating initiatives to make the LGBTI sensible and respectable members of the barangay. Bgy. Captain Nida Cabrera inducted the Self Motivated Gays of Bgy. Luz (SeMGAB) last September 21 as one of the recognized youth organizations in their community.

Roxanne Omega-Doron, founder and president of Bisdak Pride talks about the LGBTI health issues and concerns on the third episode. Last Saturday, business partners and real life couple Atty. Daymeg Lepiten and Fiona Bojos of Lepiten and Bojos Law Office shared their struggles as a couple in the public eye and their fight for their civil and legal rights.

This coming Sunday, October 11 Lantad will talk about ‘The Power of Pink Dollar: I know what I want and I want it now’ on their 5^th episode. This is to show the power of the hard earned money of the LGBTI in various industries and their contribution to the economy.

Lantad is a radio program that aims to help straight people accept and affirm their LGBT brothers and sisters, promoting healing in the LGBT community for pain that has been inflicted upon them by the prejudice of the society.

Lantad is a two hour talk show in a magazine and forum format. In between gaps, gay-related breaking news and special segments are inserted such as the Gay News Update and the Gay View.

 Aired over DYLA 909, Vimcontu Broadcasting Corporation every Sunday from 3 to 5 PM. The program is hosted by Ronald Ysmael a.k.a. Kua Ron, Belle Fajardo a.k.a. BB Ella and Harold de Mesa a.k.a. Lord Byron, and is joined by other prominent LGBTI members here in Cebu.

Confused members of the LGBT Community are invited to share their problems, concerns and issues on air. They can email at lantadsadyla@gmail.com. Every Sunday BB Ella will read a letter on-air and give her advice in ‘Tambagi ko BB Ella’.

Gay Frays Scandal in Simala Shrine Cebu

The issue here is not because the frays are gays. The issue is the fact that they are frays and still they performed immoral acts like sex and corruption. Let us not be dragged by the issue that these men who supposed to be servants of God are gay people. The real issue here is they are supposed to serve God and pray for the people. Whether they are gay or straight, they must give up their earthly desires for money and lust. A straight fray should not be involve to the opposite sex in any emotional or sexual affair according to his vow. Same with a gay fray.

If a man can not fulfill his vow, better go out of Monastery or any Religious group. Be a man and love a woman. Be a gay and love your fellow man. Be what you wanna be and be who you are! Don’t hide in the altar and use the name of your religion or faith for you to perform you immoral acts discreetly.

This is an absolute abuse of power, harassment, corruption and deception.

Shame on you!

GLOBAL PROTESTS JULY 19 TO COMMEMORATE HANGING OF 2 IRANIAN TEENS

At least 27 cities in the U.S., Europe, and Canada have already organized events for July 19, the International Day of Action Against Homophobic Persecution in Iran. The original call to action for July 19 was initiated jointly by the militant British gay rights group OutRage and the Paris-based International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO) for world-wide demonstrations on July 19, the first anniversary of the public hanging in Iran of two gay teens, Mahmoud Asgari and Ayaz Marhoni. Photos of the execution of the two boys, who were hanged in the public square of the city of Mashad last year (photo below), created international outrage when they were widely circulated on the Internet, and focused the world’s attention on Iran’s ongoing, lethal reign of terror targeting Iranian gays.
Protests have already been scheduled for the anniversary of the teens’ execution in a number of large European cities, including London, Moscow, Frankfurt, Milan, Marseille, Amsterdam, Vienna, Dublin, Stockholm, and Brussels.
Local gay groups and ad hoc committees have already scheduled U.S. events in San Francisco, San Diego, , Washington, D.C., Seattle, Fort Lauderdale, Salt Lake City, Sioux Falls (So. Dakota), Tulsa (Oklahoma), Chicago, and Provincetown for July 19. And there will be commemorative meetings in Toronto and Vancouver in Canada.
As to the age of the two gay victims, “At first it was claimed by Iranian officials that they were aged 18 and 19, then that they were 19 and 21, then aged 18 and 20, and finally they made the claim that they were both above 18 at the time of their alleged crimes. However,” the OutRage report says, “ the best evidence is that both youths were aged 17 when they were executed and therefore minors, aged 15 or 16, at the time of their alleged crimes. This execution of minors is in flagrant breach of international agreements the Tehran regime has signed.” (below, Mahmoud and Ayaz on the scaffold last year)
